Champion

Sunday, June 14, 2020

I've had a bit of Champion obsession lately. Their reverse weave is good quality for the price, especially at TJMaxx's price point.  Luckily for me, the temperatures are still cool enough for this sweatshirt dress.

Also, I've seen chunky chain necklaces a lot, and decided to get a very affordable option just to test the trend out. It took me forever to get over the ridiculousness of this chain before I wore it.

I have to mention my new colorblock sandals. I needed something to rotate my Birkenstocks with, and when I saw these Teva sandals, they were a perfect match.

As for non-clothes related news, I've been really missing massages, and started looking into some self massaging techniques and tools to relieve my ever growing muscle tension. I've been practicing Gua Sha Facials, and started using this Shiatsu Back and Shoulder massager. I'll report later in more detail how it worked for me!

501 Moto

I discovered a lot about myself after having my child, and lately even more so. For example, I used to rarely cook, nowadays, however, when I feel stressed, I bake.

Recently, for a quick stress relieve, I've been loving these super fast and easy vegan peanut butter cookies. They work with any flour; surprisingly I loved them most with buckwheat flour pancake mix!

I've also cut my bangs, I got inspired and followed this easy wispy bangs tutorial. All you need is a pair of sharp hair scissors.

For outfits, I'm still loving jeans+sweatshirt/t-shirt combos.

I haven't read a book since fall, I think. Finally, I'm back to reading. I've started The Ballard of Songbirds and Snakes, a Hunger Games novel. So far so good.

Bonjour

Friday, May 8, 2020

Things are difficult in a pandemic. Once in a while I'm certain that I've got this, and sometimes I'm just falling apart.

I've set up goals that help me go through this.

First, it's getting back in shape.
I haven't really worked out on a regular basis for almost 3 years! It's annoying when my favorite jeans won't fit right. So, I'm back with my beloved Fitness Blender workouts. For now, I have very limited time, and I can only stick to their quick videos (I add warm ups and cool downs on my own, or use theirs). I strive to stick to it every day.

My favorite FB quick cardio workouts are Little Black Dress workout; Quick Sweat Cardio Burst; HIIT the Deck Cardio, etc.

Second, I'm learning German. I started last fall by taking 2 semesters at the Goethe Institute of Chicago, and I'm practicing with my school partner every week. We do video chats.

Third, it's healthy cooking. I have veggies delivered to me, and this challenges me to cook as many different dishes as possible almost daily. Not only do I discover new recipes, I have also discovered a lot of yummy vegetables.

There's more, of course, but these are my main goals for the nearest future.

One last thing, I'm surprised that I still do some shopping (sweats and sweatshirts mostly, also some kicks), looks like it gives me some sense of normalcy.

P.S. And this blog, of course! I've ditched social media a long time ago, as it was too time consuming and draining. But keeping the blog alive is very important to me.

Denim.

I have a lot of jeans and can't imagine what I'd wear most of the time without them. I've debated buying this pair of Levi's for a while. Now they're my favorite. I got them on sale, they are  501 stretch skinnies.

Beanies.

I also love a good beanie, the one I'm wearing is versatile and warm. This beanie is by Madewell.

Sunglasses.

Mine are from Amazon, and look a lot like Celine square sunnies.

Everyday wear: puffer, warm knit, denim

Sunday, February 2, 2020

My toddler picked this puffer for me when we went to Gap. I gave in even though I wanted it in black, and felt ridiculous in lilac. But it's been growing on me. I went for a very oversized look, and bought a large to fit my extra chunky knits into it.

JW Anderson Wrap Skirt

Thursday, December 26, 2019

Should have posted this a while ago before this skirt sold out at Uniqlo because I can't recommend it enough (regret not getting other colors!). Here's what's left. It's comfortable, and stylish, also works for playground.

We did a bit of a runway show with the little one there.

Cozy & Comfy!

Saturday, December 22, 2018

I am a self proclaimed queen of cozy and comfy. In winter, I can't imagine my life without knits, soft and fluffy textures, beanies, etc.

We had a few really nice and warm days, and I immediately took my vintage mohair coat out, I even found my pink sunnies in one of the pockets, and I thought I had lost them. This is how long I haven't worn this coat!

I only have one more or less decent photo as in almost all the photos I'm with weird facial expressions trying to keep this toddler from having a meltdown. I wonder if we're approaching the terrible twos.

Thank you for stopping by and reading! Merry Christmas!

P.S. I'm wearing Kyi Kyi wool blend beanie with faux fur pom pom, the fit and quality is amazing, highly recommend!

Sherpa lined denim jacket

Sunday, December 9, 2018

Just about a week ago, walking with bare ankles wasn't such an outlandish idea. It's back to freezing now. Winter came early, and it's here to stay.

I'd always wanted a denim jacket with sherpa lining, and I got this one at J. Crew Factory. It's an OK jacket, but I regret not buying Levis. I didn't really save much and the quality is not as good. But it's really warm though. And it's a forever piece.

I'm wearing leopard again, the jeans are a bargain from TJ Maxx.

Dad sneakers: Fila Disruptor 2

Friday, November 23, 2018

Two things, these Fila sneakers and green beanie have been my best purchases as of late.

I had no idea that these oversized sneakers are called "dad sneakers" as I've never seen my dad wear sneakers ever in his life but I love the chunky look. They run half a size small, they're comfortable and keep my feet warm - the best!

As for the beanie, it really gives me life - the color, the knit, the slouchiness. I wear it with almost everything.

Telephone booth and a midi skirt

Wednesday, October 3, 2018

I've walked by this phone booth a hundred times, and was yearning (really) to take photos by it. Who knows, it could possibly be the last working phone booth around.

The weather has been pretty fall-like but we have some warmer days coming, and I'm definitely going to wear this midi skirt again. I bought it at Uniqlo last summer, judging by reviews, it was a hit. And I love it too. The skirt is especially perfect for late summer, early fall. It's very comfortable, dressy yet not fussy - perfect for my current life style. It'll also work with a lightweight sweater and boots. A versatile and classy piece for a few years to enjoy. I must mention the pockets! Pockets are everything.

Andy Warhol T-shirt

A fashion rule says you gotta ditch your cat tees by the time you're thirty! I'm going to be forty soon and I'm guessing it's OK now to go back to cats. If you take yourself seriously, do follow the rule. If not - get yourself a cat tee!

I failed to mention my kitten heel mules in the last post. I love them. It's my all time favorite shoe, albite the impracticality. My pair is basically a thrifted vintage pair of Donald J Pliner mules from back in the day when they made them in Italy.

Chicago River walk

Sunday, September 2, 2018

What a beautiful city Chicago is! I'll be honest though, the last year has been pretty rough and, tired of the constant noise and crowds everywhere, I was ready to move.

I'm glad we gave it a chance and stayed. We're rediscovering Chicago with the little one. It involves a lot of planning ahead, gives us limited time and options but it's becoming more fun. We have our little adventures every week.

Bonus - baby seems to enjoy our photoshoots!

P.S. I found my Le Barf tee here!

Le Rebelle

Friday, August 24, 2018

So... my animal print obsession is back. A couple of years ago, I'd have never thought it was possible though.

I do have some preferences as no animal print is the same. I also like it flirty, sporty, fun, and keep it to a minimum.

Pictured is my go to outfit, a pair of jeans with a fun tee - perfect to run after my baby, pick her up, redirect her, and repeat 100 times a day. All we have been doing lately is walk and walk some more.
