By nature I am a homebody, I feel most comfortable spending my afternoons leisurely walking, and my nights either watching a show, or reading something. However, lately I've been feeling like going out more and explore Chicago.
The Drake Hotel had been on my to-go lists since day 1. It's one of the most legendary hotels in Chicago. It's very popular among film makers, lots of movie scenes were shot there (Risky Business, What Women Want, My Best Friend's Wedding, etc.), and local TV-shows frequent it as well. Lots of stars and other celebs stayed at the hotel, etc., etc.
What I wanted to do is the Afternoon Tea at the Drake. The Afternoon Tea tradition in Chicago goes back to 1840, and I love tea!
Anyway, to get to the Afternoon Tea, you probably need to make a reservation since it's relatively busy. As for the dress code, they ask you to wear a smart casual ensemble, but I read that they won't kick you out if you happen to wear shorts and flip flops. As you can see, my outfit was pretty simple and comfortable, jeans are OK, just no tennis shoes.
The atmosphere, the live harp music, and the service are great! The sandwiches, the pastries were fresh; the tea was awesome. All for $45 per person (see what you get in the pic above).
There were mostly women and girls there, and I thought it was a perfect place for girlfriends to meet up for a brunch and mimosas.
To be honest, the food and desserts were not my cup of tea (no pun intended), but all in all, I'm glad we went.

По мимо того, что там останавливались разные знаменитости и звёзды кино (Джулия Робертс, Мерлин Монро, Элизабет Тейлор и др.), этот отель также очень часто появляется в фильмах и сериалах (Миссия не выполнима, Свадьба моего лучшего друга, Чего хотят женщины и пр.).
А еще там проводятся полуденные чаепития, на что я давно уже планировала сходить.
Стиль одежды требуется опрятно-повседневный, также лучше заранее забронировать столик, там довольно много гостей; с человека берут по 45 долларов за чай, мини-бутерброды и пирожные (все это на фото вверху).
Атмосфера очень приятная, плюс игра на арфе и отличное обслуживание. В основном там были женщины, группы молодых наряженных девушек и девочек. Это идеальное место для встречи с подружкой, но муж или друг точно не наестся и будет слегка голоден, поэтому лучше заранее чем-то перекусить или пообедать.
Если у вас есть лишние 45 долларов, то сходите, а если нет, то можно просто заглянуть и пройтись и посмотреть отель изнутри, а чай попить дома.
