When in Wilmette

Monday, August 24, 2020

If you're visiting Chicago, explore the city first. After living here for 5 years, we've used most of its great locations for my blog photoshoots.

On top of my list are Honeycomb (also here), Chicago River Walk, The Art Institute of Chicago, Millennium Park, the City Beach, Buckingham Fountain and the Bean, beautiful Chicago bridges, Lincoln Park with its zoo, the farm, and conservatory.

Afterwards it's time to look for hidden gems in the nearby suburbs. Bahai Temple in Wilmette will take your breath away. It is only a 30 minutes car drive from Chicago (they have free parking), and it's totally worth it! The temple is surrounded by fountains and different gardens where you can have a romantic getaway, or a family picnic (I also saw a couple of people doing yoga), not to mention taking great snaps for your Instagram. It's quiet in the morning with very few visitors, later it gets busier. The temple is currently closed, however its usual hours are 6 am to 10 pm.

If you're visiting with kids, there's a playground park nearby (Gillson Park); or, if you like the beach, there's South Beach (make sure to go online and purchase their pass).

We spent a great day there.

Northern Michigan: snapshots

Thursday, July 23, 2015

I wanted to share with you some snapshots taken on the way to and in northern Michigan.

1. We made a few stops on the way, one was in Grand Rapids (pictured first), the second largest city in the state. The city looked impressive and quite nice.

2. The Sleeping Bear Dunes - magnificent view and one of the major tourist attractions in the region. I had fun running up and down :)!

***

3. The local beaches are gorgeous, clean, large and without crowds. The water was on the cooler side though!

***

4. The area is full of beautiful cherry orchards and wineries.

***

5. The most beautiful sunsets I've seen!

P.S. If you're not totally against fanny pack bags, I really recommend it for traveling. I also love this swimsuit from H&M!

The Romantic

Thursday, June 19, 2014

When I saw this t-shirt, I wanted to buy it immediately. I consider myself a true romantic.

It's really surprising how romanticism survives in this cynical mind of mine, but it does!

During summer, nature dictates most of my looks, and colors I pick.

I don't wear belts usually but, since I wear this silk maxi dress as a skirt, I had to hide a little bulk in the waist area, and the belt helped me out a bit. Plus, it adds a little edge.

The Henry Ford Museum: Greenfield Village

Sunday, September 8, 2013

This indoor/outdoor museum was Henry Ford's retirement hobby. Quite nice, isn't it?! And it's only a tiny part that's captured in the pictures of this post. It's huge, larger than I had imagined.

So, the entire Sunday afternoon was spent wandering around the streets of Greenfield Village.

The outfit I am wearing is a bit special. I, after almost two months of waiting, received a package from home with this handmade crochet top from my mom. I've always wanted to be as crafty as my mother, but alas. Thank you mom!

By the way, a nice way to refresh an old pair of shoes is to wear them with some interesting girly socks!

Isn't it cute!

Endless summer

Saturday, August 31, 2013

Labor Day signifies the unofficial end of summer, however in the Detroit Conservatory, summer is very well preserved...and endless. Enjoy!
